About Morrie Lanning

Morrie Lanning recently retired from public service after serving as an elected official for a total of 38 years; 6 years as a Moorhead Alderman; 22 years as Mayor of Moorhead; and 10 as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Throughout his years of public service, Morrie has been known for his leadership and communication skills in building coalitions, working across political aisles, responding to community needs, and getting difficult things done. Forming and developing international and regional organizations aimed at solving problems, improving community infrastructure, addressing the issues of poverty and affordable housing, improving land and water stewardship, and building new stadiums for the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings are some examples of his accomplishments.

Morrie’s 39 years of experience as a college administrator and educator and his 13 years of experience as the owner of retail businesses significantly add to the breadth and depth of his knowledge and understanding.
